Mom's guide to surviving baseball

I don't know about you, but this time of year is just crazy for our family.  Why you ask?  Because it's baseball season and we have 2 of the 3 boys playing competitive baseball on 2 different teams from April through October.  If you ask me what I'm doing this weekend or any other weekend, my answer will more than likely be.....yep you guessed it, BASEBALL!  Which means a lot of sitting outside in the elements.

Living in Colorado, the weather can go one way or another, and I don't mean day to day.  I'm talking hour to hour.  With that being said, I have to have my car packed with everything from sunscreen and flip flops, to winter coats, hoodies, and sleeping bags.  Oh and an umbrella.  This past few weeks we have had record breaking warmth, hurricane force winds and today it rained, snowed and hailed!  If you live here, then you know just because it's sunny, does not mean it's warm!  Sunscreen is a must in almost every type of weather here.  Seriously, this is springtime in Colorado and it's so annoying.

To keep myself and my kids prepared I have a few essentials and a few wants.  My first essential is my "princess chair".  I swear I can't sit thorough a game without it.  It's got the built in umbrella that adjusts to where you need it. It's got my foot rest for comfy lounging and it even reclines!  Then there's the built in cooler bag, bottle opener and cup holders.  Sounds great right?  It is and mine has been through 3 seasons and it's not going to make it through the end of this one.  So I'm going to buy myself a new one and you should too. .

Second, I need the cooler.  It doesn't matter if were going to once game or 3.  Once we get to the field, my kids act like they haven't eaten or had a drink in days.  Not having a cooler is not an option.  Not just any cooler will do though.  It has to have wheels, because well, I only have 2 hands and a million things to carry from car to field, to the next field and then back to the car.

Third is my want.....because in all reality spring baseball means sitting through a game or multiple games FREEZING my butt off and hating life. This my friend is a total game changer and I'm pretty sure every baseball mom NEEDS it! Lol, I'm not sure how well they actually work, but I've heard all good things. Yeah, it's pricey, but I'm thinking it's worth it's weight in gold.

So there you have it.  If you're an old pro like me or completely new to the baseball game, plan on being in it for the long run....lets say from the age of 5 to high school, then make it a point to have all of the essential items.
